PRIVACY POLICY
What this website collects, why, and how to get rid of it. Written in plain language, because a policy nobody can read protects nobody.

This policy covers the website at ibgolden.com. It is run by Ian Olden (Albert Ian Olden), a freelance WordPress developer based in Davao City, Philippines.

What the chat collects
If you open the chat and send a message, the site stores the name, email address and message you type, any image you choose to attach, the topic you picked, and the page you were on when you started.
Your IP address is used to limit how many messages can be sent from one place in an hour. It is not stored alongside your message and is not used to identify you.
That information is saved in this site's own database and emailed to me so I can reply. It is not sold, rented, or handed to anyone for marketing.
Please do not send passwords, API keys or payment details through the chat. If I need access to something later, I will ask you to create a temporary account or invite me through the platform's own system.
Confirming your email address
After you send a message, the site emails a single-use confirmation link to the address you gave. It exists only to check the address is real and reachable. The link expires, and clicking it stores nothing beyond the fact that the address was confirmed.
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-BYRZ7VBRYZ) to see how many people visit, which pages they read, and which links they use. It sets the cookies _ga and _ga_BYRZ7VBRYZ.
Alongside page views, it records a small number of named actions: opening the chat, choosing a chat topic, sending a message, downloading my CV, opening a project, and clicking an email or social link. These record that an action happened and on which page — never the content of your message.
Analytics data is processed by Google. Their handling of it is covered by Google's own privacy policy.
Other cookies currently set
The site still has WooCommerce installed from an earlier version of this business. It sets a group of cookies beginning sbjs_ that record how a visitor arrived. No shop is operating and nothing is for sale. These are being removed.
Marketing scripts belonging to Klaviyo, Reddit, Snapchat and Pinterest plugins also still load, left over from that same setup. They are being removed for the same reason.
How long anything is kept
Chat conversations are kept for as long as they are useful — while we are talking, and afterwards as a record of work discussed or done. There is no automatic deletion schedule, so if you want yours removed, ask and I will delete it.
Analytics data is retained by Google for 14 months.
Your choices
You can ask me what is stored about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email info@ibgolden.com and I will action it.
You can block analytics cookies with your browser settings or an extension. The site works normally without them.
You can use email instead of the chat if you would rather not have a conversation stored on this site.
Changes
If what the site collects changes, this page changes with it. The date below is when it was last updated.
