WORDPRESS DEVELOPMENT

Remote WordPress Developer for Businesses and Agencies

I'm Ian Olden, a WordPress developer since 2010. I build, fix and maintain WordPress and WooCommerce sites for businesses and agencies, most recently for teams in Australia, the UK and Canada. You deal with me directly, in writing, and get a clear scope and price before any work starts.

WHAT I DO

WordPress development services

New builds, fixes, ongoing care and integrations. Most work falls into one of these ten.

Custom WordPress development

Themes and templates built to match a design rather than bent out of a pre-made one. ACF-driven content models so editors change content without touching layout, reusable block patterns, and custom post types where the content actually warrants them.

For: Businesses whose site has outgrown a purchased theme, and agencies who need a build done properly.

Custom PHP and plugin development

When a feature does not exist, I write it. Plugins, hooks and filters, REST endpoints, WP-Cron jobs and direct database work - built to WordPress conventions so the next developer can read it.

For: Teams who keep being told "no plugin does that".

ACF and custom templates

Advanced Custom Fields used the way it is meant to be: structured field groups, flexible content layouts, and templates that render them cleanly. Editors get predictable fields instead of a freeform page builder they can break.

For: Content teams who need to publish without breaking the design.

Elementor development and fixes

Builds from Figma files, responsive problems across breakpoints, broken templates, widget and CSS conflicts, and the performance cost that comes from Elementor being used carelessly.

For: Anyone whose Elementor site looks right on desktop and wrong everywhere else.

Divi development

Divi builds and repairs, module and template work, and child themes that survive an update. Handed over so the client can maintain their own content afterwards.

For: Businesses already on Divi who need it fixed or extended, not replaced.

WooCommerce development

Product catalogues and parts lookups, checkout customisation, payment gateway integration, shipping logic and the product-data problems that appear once a catalogue passes a few hundred items.

For: Shops whose catalogue or checkout no longer fits the default setup.

WordPress maintenance and support

Core, theme and plugin updates applied in a way that does not break a live site, backups, security hardening, plugin compatibility testing and the content changes that arrive every month.

For: Owners who would rather not find out their site is broken from a customer.

WordPress migrations

Host moves, domain changes, staging-to-live deployments, and rebuilds onto WordPress from another platform - with redirects mapped so search rankings and inbound links survive the move.

For: Anyone changing host or platform who cannot afford to lose traffic.

Performance and technical SEO

Finding what actually makes a page slow - not guessing. Trimming plugins and scripts, image and caching setup, then the technical side of SEO: heading structure, metadata, sitemaps, redirects and analytics that reports something useful.

For: Sites that feel slow, or that Google is not indexing properly.

API and third-party integrations

Connecting WordPress to the systems a business already runs on - CRMs, marketing platforms and payment providers - through their APIs and webhooks, with custom REST work where an off-the-shelf connector does not fit.

For: Businesses whose website and CRM currently do not talk to each other.

WHO I WORK WITH

Businesses, agencies and teams hiring remotely

→ Businesses that need a developer who replies in writing, not a call
→ Agencies that need extra WordPress capacity under their own brand
→ Startups and organisations with a build or a problem and no in-house developer
→ Teams hiring a remote developer on contract or full-time
HOW WE WORK

Message, assess, quote, approve, build, done

You describe the problem in your own words. I work out what is involved and send an estimated timeframe and price. Nothing starts until you agree to it, and nothing beyond the agreed scope happens without asking you first.

Most small, clearly defined fixes are done within 1-2 business days. Larger work gets a realistic timeframe up front, and if something is outside what I do well, I say so instead of taking it on.

REMOTE WORK

Working with a remote developer in the Philippines

I work from Davao City (UTC+8) and have done remote work for agencies and businesses abroad since 2010. Everything runs in writing, so time zones rarely slow a project down: send a request before you log off and there is usually an update waiting when you are back.

Payment by card, PayPal or bank transfer. I never ask for your passwords - if I need access, you create a temporary account or invite me through the platform's own system.

FAQ

WordPress developer FAQ

How much does it cost to hire a WordPress developer? +

Every job is quoted individually, because a broken plugin and a custom build are not the same work. You get an estimated timeframe and price in writing before anything starts, and no work happens beyond that scope without your approval.

Do you work with agencies? +

Yes. My recent roles have been agency roles, building and maintaining client sites for teams in Australia, the UK and Canada. I'm used to working to someone else's brief, standards and deadlines.

Can you work on a site someone else built? +

That's most of what I do. Troubleshooting jobs almost always involve code I didn't write - inherited themes, abandoned plugins and undocumented customisations.

Do you need my passwords? +

No. Create a temporary account for me, or invite me through the platform's own access system. Please don't send passwords or API keys through chat.

How do we handle the time difference? +

In writing. I'm at UTC+8, so US mornings are late evening here. Send a request before you log off and there's usually an update by the time you're back. I don't promise live overlap I can't keep.

Do you offer ongoing maintenance? +

Yes - updates, backups, security, plugin compatibility and content changes, on an ongoing basis. I've done seasonal webmaster work for the same client since 2010.
